Inferno Protocol Guides

How to survive a maze that will not stay still.

Guides Hub

This hub is the map of every Inferno Protocol tutorial on the wiki. The game does not give you a trustworthy in-world map, so the pages below have to do that work: how to start, how to aim, how to talk without feeding the things that hunt you, and how to spend creature parts instead of dying with a full backpack.

Inferno Protocol is a first-person survival horror from Tektonic Interactive. You play on Steam, on Windows, either alone or in online co-op with up to six people. Early Access began 28 August 2026 with three maze layers — Junkyard, Jungle, and Swamp — a central settlement, harvesting, crafting, traps, and injectors. The studio’s own line is the one you should tape above your monitor: memory is your map, and marks are your guide.

If you are brand new, open the getting started guide first. It covers the Prologue, the first settlement loop, and the mistakes that empty a squad in twenty minutes. Bindings, controller support, inventory quirks, and QTEs live in controls. Squads that ignore voice range should read the co-op guide before they enable proximity chat.

What these guides are for

Search traffic for a game like this splits into a few honest jobs. People want to know how to play after the store page trailer. They want to know how to find an exit in a structure that rotates. They want to know how to get better weapons without wasting organs. They want to know how to protect a camp when a Giant Rat grab starts a QTE. They want to know how to complete the Prologue and the first layer achievements. And they want to know how to beat the trash eater, the jungle stalkers, and the unlabeled syringe that seemed like a good idea at the time.

Each child page is written for one of those jobs:

  • Getting started — first session, Prologue, and the settlement as a reset point.
  • How to find the exit — depth, lying maps, Stop Maze Turning, what Early Access actually proves.
  • Maze navigation — spray, chalk, lying paper maps, compass failure, notebooks.
  • Maze layers — Junkyard, Jungle, Swamp, and the Winter/Desert calendar.
  • Co-op — six-player sessions, walkie-talkies, proximity voice, and lobby stability.
  • Combat — melee weight, firearms, stagger, traps, and day-night interiors.
  • Settlement — traders, quests, cooking, beds, camps that may shoot first.
  • Controls — keyboard, mouse, full controller support, inventory, emotes, and QTEs.
  • Crafting — harvesting, craft-from-stash, cooking, building, and traps.
  • Injectors — labeled serums, unlabeled risks, and when not to inject.

When a ranking is more useful than a walkthrough, leave this hub and open the weapons tier list, the injector ranking, or the enemy ranking. Hardware questions belong in system requirements and settings. What actually changed in the demo-to-EA window is recorded in patch notes.

How to use the hub during Early Access

Early Access is not a finished 1.0. Tektonic has said the current map is already large, that three layers are playable, and that four more biomes are planned across the remaining layers over roughly nine to twelve months. That means a guide that is true in August 2026 can be incomplete in winter. We treat official Steam news as the source of record and rewrite pages when a patch adds a creature, a craft recipe, or a communication tool.

A practical reading order for a first weekend:

  1. Confirm the PC can run the game in system requirements.
  2. Skim getting started so the Prologue is not a surprise.
  3. Fix binds in controls and settings.
  4. If you have friends, read co-op before you host.
  5. After the first death spiral, study maze navigation and combat.
  6. Once you have spare parts, use crafting and injectors together instead of injecting the first unlabeled vial you find.

What we will not invent

This wiki does not invent YouTube videos, gift codes, or a complete item spreadsheet Tektonic has not published. Where a keybind is not listed in a patch note, we say so and tell you to read the in-game settings screen. Where an injector is only described as “dash, rage, night vision, double jump, extra health” plus unlabeled variants, we do not fabricate extra names. Where Steam reviews mention lobby kicks or falling through floors, we treat those as Early Access reports, not as guaranteed mechanics.

If you only open one page besides this hub, make it getting started. If you only open two, add how to find the exit. The maze is the product. Everything else — katana, shotgun, brass knuckles, cooking barrels, notebooks — is how you stay oriented long enough to use them. The PC nav dropdown shows eight entries; the rest live here and under View all.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Inferno Protocol survivors.

Which Inferno Protocol guide should I read first?

The getting started guide. It assumes you have just finished the Steam install and need the Prologue, first marks, and settlement loop before combat theory.

Do these guides work for solo and co-op?

Yes. Solo is fully supported. Online co-op scales to six. Voice, walkie-talkies, and shared notebooks are covered in the co-op guide; navigation rules in maze navigation apply to both.

Will the guides stay accurate during Early Access?

We rewrite from official Steam news. Layers, recipes, and enemies will expand. Check patch notes and the roadmap after every major update.
