Inferno Protocol Tools

PC checks, settings, and the boring work that keeps a six-player maze session stable.

Tools Hub

Not every Inferno Protocol problem is a Giant Rat. Some are a GTX 750 Ti pretending to be a 1070, a DualSense on Bluetooth, or Windows 11 Smart App Control blocking the exe. This hub collects the practical tools: hardware floors, in-game options, and launch-week PC issues. Gameplay still lives in the guides hub. Balance opinions live in the tier list hub.

Child pages:

  • System requirements — minimum vs recommended, storage, Deck unknown, controller notes.
  • Settings — graphics, ultrawide, auto detection, microphone, accessibility, scroll sensitivity.
  • Achievements — the Steam names we can actually print, including layer depth and Stop Maze Turning.

Use these before you host. A beautiful Junkyard screenshot does not help if auto-exposure whites out the swamp for the low-spec friend. Pair with controls so binds and options match, and with co-op so the host is the person with the wired connection, not the person with the cowboy hat.

What belongs in Tools and what does not

Tools are for the PC and the menus. They are not a crafting calculator Tektonic has not shipped, and they are not a live player-count widget. If you want recipes, open crafting. If you want injector risk, open injectors. If you want to know whether Winter is playable, open the roadmap.

The Steam listing is the source for requirements. Demo patches are the source for settings that exist (ultrawide, auto GPU detect, mic selection, screen type). Launch-week community reports are labeled as reports: Smart App Control 0x11C7, lobby boots, floor fall-throughs. We do not promote registry hacks. We do tell you to try the official graphics auto-detect and to host on Ethernet.

Suggested pre-flight

  1. Read system requirements against your GPU name, not against a vibe.
  2. Apply settings presets, then cap expectations for a six-player session.
  3. Confirm USB for PlayStation pads.
  4. Select the correct microphone.
  5. Only then open getting started and the Prologue.

If a new graphics option appears in a patch, it will be listed on patch notes first, then folded into Settings. Early Access is nine to twelve months; your config file will not survive that untouched. Re-check after every major update, especially when a new biome ships heavier foliage than Junkyard.

Host versus join

The person with the recommended GPU should host. NPC pooling and six-player sessions still tax CPU and network, which is why demo patches chased leaks and transforms. A 750 Ti can join a Junkyard loop; it should not be the listen-server for Jungle foliage plus proximity voice. If the host stutters, stagger desyncs, and trap triggers feel late. That is a tools problem before it is a combat problem.

Write your squad’s spec on the notebook the same way you write trap tiles: who has USB for a DualSense, who is on Smart App Control, who cannot cap framerate. Then open system requirements and settings together, not as trivia after the first wipe. The maze already lies. Your graphics preset should not.
